About The Role The Staff Applied AI Engineer - Pre-Sales at Snorkel is a critical role that bridges the gap between technical innovation and business needs. Based in San Francisco, CA, with a hybrid work model or remote options within the United States, this position involves partnering closely with Sales teams and AI Solution Practice Leaders to drive pre-sales technical engagements. The role requires leading discovery sessions, scoping tailored AI solutions, and developing compelling demos and pilots that showcase the potential of GenAI and machine learning to deliver tangible business value. You will translate customer requirements into well-structured, technically feasible proposals and Statements of Work, setting the stage for successful project execution. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence enterprise AI adoption by providing technical expertise, strategic insights, and innovative prototypes that demonstrate the power of modern AI techniques. You will play a vital role in understanding client challenges, designing solutions, and supporting initial implementations, all while contributing to Snorkel’s product and research roadmap through field insights and reusable solution patterns. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math/Statistics, or equivalent experience8+ years of experience in customer-facing technical roles such as pre-sales, solutions engineering, or applied AIProficiency in Python programming and familiarity with modern GenAI stack components, including LLM ecosystems, retrieval-augmented generation, vector databases, and prompt engineeringHands-on experience with the entire predictive ML stack, including classical ML frameworks like scikit-learn, and data processing tools such as pandas and SparkStrong ability to rapidly prototype AI solutions, including RAG systems, fine-tuning workflows, and agentic architecturesExcellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to both technical and executive audiencesExperience in estimating scope, producing technical proposals, Statements of Work, and responding to RFPs/RFIsAbility to operate effectively in fast-paced environments and manage multiple stakeholder expectations Responsibilities Collaborate with Sales and AI Solution Practice Leaders to define technical strategies and ensure seamless transition from pre-sales to post-sales deliveryLead technical discovery engagements to understand client objectives, data landscapes, architectural constraints, security considerations, and organizational readinessDesign and develop tailored AI demos, including evaluation pipelines, dataset strategies, retrieval-augmented generation systems, and prompt engineering solutions aligned with customer needsCreate comprehensive proposals, including Statements of Work, RFP/RFI responses, and effort estimates, ensuring scope clarity and architectural integrityCapture and document reusable patterns from bespoke demos, evolving them into reference architectures, benchmarks, and internal solution
