Working closely with partners in the U.S. and worldwide, Aster combines rapid prototyping with reliable mass production to power the next era of mobility. Role Description The Motor Engineer will design, develop, and optimize electric motors for unmanned aerial vehicles and related applications, with a focus on performance, durability, and manufacturability. Day-to-day responsibilities include creating and reviewing mechanical designs, conducting simulations and tests, supporting rapid prototyping, and collaborating with cross-functional teams in R&D, manufacturing, and quality. The role involves preparing technical documentation, analyzing test data, and continuously improving motor architecture in line with AST Coil technology and project requirements. This is a full-time, hybrid position based in Yokote, where on-site work at the engineering and production facilities is combined with some work-from-home flexibility. Qualifications Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering with experience applying engineering principles to rotating machinery or electric motors.Proficiency in Machine Design, including component selection, tolerance analysis, and design for manufacturability.Hands-on experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for 3D modeling, assemblies, and technical drawings.Background in Research and Development (R&D), including prototyping, testing, data analysis, and iterative design improvement.Project Management skills to plan tasks, coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, and deliver projects on schedule.Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field.Familiarity with motor control principles, materials used in electric motors, and thermal/structural analysis is an advantage.Ability to communicate clearly in English; Japanese language skills are beneficial for local collaboration.Comfort working in a hybrid environment in Yokote, with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset and attention to detail.
