This Role This role is based in Tokyo, Japan, leading electrical design across RHAELM's Japan data centre programme.

As DC Electrical Design Engineer, you will lead the electrical design of RHAELM's data centre infrastructure, from HV/LV distribution and switchgear through to schematic and layout drawings. You will work closely with mechanical, structural, and ICT design teams to ensure every design meets company standards, client specifications, and the regulatory requirements of mission-critical environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to the electrical design of HV/LV switchgear and related systems from concept through to completionDevelop schematic designs, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings using CAD tools (e.g.
• AutoCAD, EPLAN, Revit MEP)Ensure all designs meet company standards, client specifications, and regulatory requirementsPerform fault and load calculations, and select and size electrical components and equipmentCoordinate with mechanical, structural, and ICT design teams to ensure seamless integrationPrepare and submit project documentation, including as-built drawings, test certificates, and O&M manualsSupport constructability reviews, site visits, and commissioning to ensure installation matches design intentManage multiple design packages concurrently, maintaining quality and programme adherence Experience Proven electrical design experience, ideally within data centre or critical power environmentsExperience managing design packages from concept through to deliveryExperience handling technical queries, RFQs, and client-facing engineering activitiesStrong knowledge of relevant standards (BS 7671, IEC, UL, or equivalent)Familiarity with Tier III/IV design requirements advantageousExperience operating within Japan's construction, engineering, or regulatory market context advantageous Skills Strong knowledge of HV/LV switchgear systems and electrical design principlesProficiency in AutoCAD, EPLAN, or equivalent electrical CAD softwareExperience producing technical drawings, calculations, and specificationsClear communication with clients, contractors, and cross-discipline teamsStrong attention to detail and compliance focus Qualifications Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related disciplineProfessional Engineer status or working towards chartership advantageousRelevant CAD software certifications a plusBased in Tokyo, Japan;
