About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Software Engineer Mission Systems Software Developer (Level 5) to join our dynamic team at Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) in Daytona Beach, Florida. This pivotal role involves developing and integrating sophisticated mission systems software critical to our defense and space programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and testing software components throughout the entire development lifecycle, ensuring high standards of quality, security, and automation within an agile DevSecOps environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge projects that impact national security and space exploration, working in a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to engineering excellence. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. Candidates should demonstrate a minimum of 10 years of experience in full software development lifecycle activities, including modeling, simulation, testing, and analysis using languages such as C, C++, C#, Python, Java, Ada, and operating within Linux environments. Experience with version control systems like Git, ClearCase, or Subversion is essential. Candidates must also be able to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance post-hire. Preferred qualifications include over 14 years of related work experience, leadership capabilities, and hands-on experience with agile methodologies, collaborative development tools such as JIRA, Confluence, and DevOps processes. Responsibilities Participate in the development of use cases and software requirements, translating mission needs into technical specifications.Lead activities to develop, document, and maintain software architecture, algorithms, interfaces, and designs for complex mission systems software.Design, develop, and integrate mission-critical software components, ensuring seamless functionality within the overall system architecture.Provide technical leadership to project teams, guiding less experienced engineers and fostering best practices in software development.Act as an independent reviewer for program managers and customers, identifying areas for improvement and recommending best practices.Engage actively in all phases of program activities, from initial proposal and planning through to delivery and deployment.Support the analysis of software quality metrics and risk management strategies to enhance software reliability and performance.
