Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Data Centres📍 Tokyo, Japan | Full-Time We’re hiring a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a Singapore-headquartered, next-generation digital infrastructure platform that develops and operates green, carrier-neutral data centres across Asia. Backed by a leading Asia-focused infrastructure investor, the company is building high-performance, sustainable facilities designed to support the rapidly growing demands of artificial intelligence, cloud computing and hyperscale infrastructure. This is a senior technical role with responsibility for driving the end-to-end mechanical design of data centre facilities across Japan — from early-stage concept and feasibility through detailed design, construction and commissioning. The opportunityYou’ll act as the senior mechanical engineering authority for Japan, leading the design and optimisation of:• Mission-critical cooling and HVAC systems• Chilled water and precision cooling infrastructure• Direct Liquid Cooling (DLC) and other advanced cooling technologies• High-density and AI-ready data centre environments• Plumbing and fire suppression systems• Thermal modelling, CFD and energy-performance optimisation• Seismic-compliant mechanical infrastructure• Sustainable design strategies focused on PUE, WUE and carbon reductionYou’ll also lead multidisciplinary design coordination, work closely with consultants, contractors, vendors and Japanese authorities, and help shape mechanical design standards for both Japan and the wider APAC portfolio. What we’re looking forYou’ll ideally bring 10–15+ years of mechanical engineering experience, including significant experience designing data centres or other mission-critical facilities, with at least five years operating at senior/lead level. Strong knowledge of Japanese building regulations, fire codes, seismic requirements and authority approval processes is essential. Experience with advanced cooling technologies — particularly DLC, rear-door heat exchangers, immersion cooling and high-density AI workloads — will be highly valued. Business-level Japanese and professional working English are required.Why consider this opportunity?
