About The Role The Lead Cloud Software Engineer plays a pivotal role within the Mission Networks Cloud Engineering team. This position involves leveraging major Cloud Service Providers such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud to develop and deliver solutions that enhance customer operations and facilitate information management services. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in software development best practices and extensive experience in deploying cloud-based applications and services. As a key member of our team, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements, design software architectures, develop APIs, and implement serverless frameworks. Your expertise will ensure the mission-critical readiness of our programs by creating scalable, reliable, and secure cloud solutions. The role involves hands-on development, prototyping, researching commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products for integration, and deploying solutions that meet stringent operational requirements. Qualifications The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, coupled with 6-9 years of software development experience. Candidates with a graduate degree should have at least 4-7 years of relevant experience. Alternatively, individuals with extensive industry experience—minimum of 10-12 years—without a formal degree are also encouraged to apply. A strong understanding of cloud computing, microservices, and modern software development practices is essential. Responsibilities Lead the design, development, and integration of cloud software applications within an Agile environment, ensuring end-to-end deployment and seamless operation across cloud and non-cloud components.Develop cloud-based applications aligned with program requirements and strategic business roadmaps for cloud technologies.Collaborate with development teams and clients to review designs, provide estimates, and identify potential risks, assumptions, and limitations.Implement DevOps best practices by building and continuously improving automated build, test, and deployment pipelines to enhance operational efficiency.Provide ongoing operational support for applications and tools to meet high availability and service level agreements (SLAs).Design, develop, and deploy microservices in containerized environments such as Kubernetes, EKS, or OpenShift, ensuring scalability and high availability.Apply microservice architectural patterns to create modular, maintainable, and efficient cloud solutions.Work extensively in cloud environments focusing on container workloads, databases, and object storage solutions.Develop and maintain scalable, highly-available enterprise systems tailored for cloud deployment.Maintain the ability to obtain and sustain an FAA public trust clearance, ensuring compliance with security standards.
